| General description | Dextran is a high molecular glucose polymer produced from sucrose fermented by Leuconostoc mesenterica, is composed of α (1 → 6) glycosidic bond linked linear glucose unit skeleton and α (1 → 3) It is composed of branched chains that are connected by glycosidic bonds at the beginning, of which the branched glycosidic bonds account for about 5% . The length of side chain is mostly 1-2 glucose units. Its molecular weight varies from 1kDa to 2000kDa, which is reflected by the average molecular weight Mw and molecular weight distribution MWD.
